What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships in Scotland offer a flexible way to gain skills, qualifications and work experience at different stages of life. There are three main types, each suited to different learners and career paths
Foundation Apprenticeships – Designed for school pupils (senior phase), these allow you to gain work experience and a qualification while still at school. Modern Apprenticeships – For people aged 16+ in employment, combining paid work with training towards an industry-recognised qualification. Graduate Apprenticeships – For those who want to earn a degree while working, combining a job with part-time university study.
